Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should I bring to my first visit?

A: Please bring a prescription from your doctor, a copy of your insurance card and drivers license, and a list of any medications you are currently taking.

Q: What should I wear to therapy?

A: Light, athletic clothing is preferred. Clothing that can be adjusted to expose the affected body part may also be beneficial.

Q: How long will I need to come to physical therapy?

A: After a thorough evaluation by one of our physical therapists, they will discuss how long you should attend physical therapy, timeframes may range from a few weeks to a few months.

Q: How long will I be sore after therapy?

A: If your therapy session focused primarily on soft tissue mobilization, you may anticipate feeling sore for not more than 2-4 hours after your session. If your session focused on muscular strength, you may be sore for 48-72 hours after your session. If you have been sore for longer than expected, please tell your physical therapist at your next visit.

Q: Will I have the same physical therapist during each visit?

A: At Riverview Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine, we pride ourselves in providing one-on-one care with the same physical therapist during each visit. Only if your physical therapist is sick, has a family emergency, or is on vacation will you been seen by another physical therapist.
